Kayaking Adventures
(Grades 3-5)

Location: Lynnhurst Park Fields
Lead Instructor(s): Pete Hill

Course Description:

Kayaking Adventures (Grades 2-5)

Burroughs Physical Education Teacher, Mr. Hill has created an after school Kayaking Adventure class at Lake Harriet that is perfect for the child that needs more movement in their lives (no kayaking experience necessary). While at our favorite kayaking spots, students will learn about: trail, boating and water safety, proper identification and use of boating equipment and basic paddling stroke techniques. All boating equipment will be provided including Life Jackets (kayakers may bring their own lifejacket from home). Character building, cooperative skills, individual success and trail, boating and water safety and etiquette are all emphasized. Math, reading, health, nutrition and wellness are incorporated into the lessons.  Due to COVID restrictions parents are responsible to drop off and pick up their student and gear at Lynnhurst Park between ball fields 2 and 3.  Dress for the weather: jacket, gloves or mittens, hat, shorts, t-shirts, gym shoes, sweat pants/sweat shirts. Please bring a snack to eat before each session and a water bottle.
